Send-off party
Our friends in the Bay Area threw us a little "welcome back" and "send-off" party, complete with banners created out of my own fabric that my artsy friend Diane ordered on Spoonflower. Cindy and Dick were the perfect host and everybody chipped in. We even had 2 songs written for us and sung by our talented musician friends Jim, Debra and Diane (yes she sings too!).

Back in California!
One of the First thing I did when we got to Santa Barbara is to have Mexican food. I met my friend Erin for lunch at Carlito's and had the mahi-mahi tacos and a margarita! Yum!

Zion National Park
Yesterday we hike in Zion National Park. Beautiful but so crowded and way too hot. We'll just need to come back off season one of these days.

Bryce Canyon
Yesterday we went to Bryce Canyon and we hiked an amazing trail called the Navajo trail. I love this park, it's a festival of colors at every corner! And I ran into my friend Melissa on the trail, what a small world!

Colorado!
We went to the Royal Gorge in a little train that Dave insisted on taking. Turns out we got a pretty good view of the Gorge from there and it was fun. Then we crossed through independence pass into Aspen and onto Moab, Utah.

We're in Kansas, Toto!
Drove through Oklahoma today. Had lunch at the Rib Crib (that's the sign on the bathroom door). Then drove through Little Sahara State Park but couldn't really see anything and too far to walk in 100 degree heat. Those metal sculptures were on the side of the road in Mullinville, Kansas,

Passing through Arkansas
This morning we left Memphis Tenessee and drove through Arkansas. Had fried catfish for lunch then stopped at Siloam Spring, AK for the night. Had dinner at the Cherokee Nation's casino in Oklahoma, right at the stateline. It's a little cooler here, finally!

Blues City café in Memphis
We had the best BBQ dinner in Memphis tonight at the Blues City Café. Then we went to listen to music in a bar on Beale Street. This morning, we left our wigwam to go visit Mammoth Cave, the largest cave in the world. Then we went on to Nashville for lunch and continued on to Memphis. It's been uncomfortably hot and humid everywhere we have been today.

Hot dogs and root beer floats
Today we left Altoona, Pennsylvania and drove through West Virginia, Ohio and Indiana. We stopped to visit friends in Indianapolis. Nice to be out of the car for a few days. We had lunch in Ohio at a little hot dog stand on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. Dave really needs a haircut!
