What a Pear!
I got 2nd place in the Wallpaper "retro mod" spoonflower contest! I didn't expect that as there was so many good entries, and a total of 397 of them! And I didn't even ask anybody to vote for me, so all of these people just willingly voted for my design just because they liked it! They also created a fat quarter bundle with the top 10 winners. I might just have to get one...

Gelli Plates Class
I am taking another one of Carla Sonheim online class. She is just the best and this one was a mini one-week class on Gelli plates which is a way to do monotype printing without a press. All you need is a Gelli plate. They are not cheap ($30 for an 8x10 plus $12 shipping) but I must warn you, this process is addictive! You might want to pick up gambling as a hobby instead! But if you still want to try it, you can get them here or at your local art store. We are working on 8 different pieces at the same time. This is round 2 and those are my 4 favorites so far, but it could change. I will show you all of them when I am finished with the class.

It's fabric8 contest time!
It's that time of year again, the fabric8 contest! I had to enter even though I was not really inspired by "Geek Chic" theme this year. I asked my son Alex to help me with ideas and then I came up with something that I could relate to. the good news is, I made it to the first round! Judges from Robert Kaufman Fabrics and Spoonflower picked the 100 semifinalists over 750 entries. Now it's a popularity contest and the public will pick the top 8 finalist. Voting is open until next Wednesday, May 15th. At that point, the top eight will be chosen to move on to the final round and design a whole collection. You can vote for me here, my spoonflower name is "snowflower". Whether I get picked in the final 8 or not, I am still going to design a collection around it just for fun!

Quel charme! Quelle allure!
My grand father gave this card to my grand mother in July 1972 (he would always write the date of the actual birthday in the card). And the inside is a pop-up where she jumps into his arms, sweet and playful. Very Mad Men-ish in style!

Milk Desserts
I have been helping my mom going through some old boxes and I have to say I am finding some treasures in there. Some of these vintage recipes booklets illustrations are just great. This one was distributed by the Milk Foundation of Canada and it looks like it's from the 50's or 60's.
