Junk Mail Artist Book
Another online class project with Carla Sonheim. This time we used junk mail to create a book. First we gesso pieces of junk mail (security envelopes, postcard, flyers) with a brayer. Then we add watercolor and tape our pieces together before arranging them into a book. We then add black marker and gesso. I think it creates really interesting textures and background.

Laundry day
I love drying the laundry on a clothesline at the cottage. They smell like breeze and lake water. My mom tells me that women that used to do laundry for a living were called "Lavandières". Love that word.

It's voting time!
It's time to vote in the fabric8 final round to see if I will become the new Fabric designer for Robert Kaufman Fabric and have this line sold around the world. You can vote for me here.
My spoonflower name is "snowflower" and the name of my collection is "Sea Garden". Thank you for our support! If I win, I am buying drinks for everybody! Voting ends on June 13th.

Another one from the Sea Garden collection. This one is a tone on tone coordinates with an accent color.

Sea Daisies
Here's another design in my Sea Garden Collection. The guideline to design a collection are: a focal design, a secondary design, a small scale and a large scale version, a tonal, two tone or tone on tone coordinates, and a mix of geometric or organic motifs such as florals, polka dots or stripes. This is one color story but when you go into commercial production, they would run several color-ways.

Blooming Waters
Here's a preview of my work in progress from my "Water Flower" collection for the spoonflower contest. I am trying to finish this weekend. Everything is due on the 5th and voting will start on the 7th. My friend Louise came up with a good name for it: "Blooming Waters".
